France, Morocco Committed to working together in Favor of World Peace, Stability

Morocco and France share the same concern of promoting peace and security across the world, said French Foreign Minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian.

“We are keen to promote openness and dialogue where peace and stability are threatened,” said Le Drian in an address at a function hosted by Morocco’s ambassador to Paris Chakib Benmoussa, on the occasion of the 18th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s enthronement.

Le Dirian gave the example of Libya where both Morocco and France are working together to finding a peaceful political solution.

In the same vein, he praised Morocco’s commitment to peacekeeping operations in Africa while paying tribute to the Kingdom’s fallen soldiers in CAR.

The French Foreign Minister also affirmed that Morocco is committed to an ambitious reform process, which targets the modernization of institutions through the implementation of the 2011 Constitution, economic emergence and the integration of the country in globalization.

The French official recalled the visit paid by President Emmanuel Macron during the first month of his presidency to Morocco, saying the visit was an opportunity to highlight the political and strategic depth of the Moroccan-French partnership. He also underlined that the two countries cooperate closely on security issues.

Earlier in a message, the French President congratulated King Mohammed VI on the anniversary of his enthronement and expressed satisfaction at the depth of bilateral partnership.

Macron stressed that the French-Moroccan partnership is living under a new dawn and that the two countries are poised to forge ahead with their bilateral cooperation. President Macron also recalled the message of peace and tolerance sent by the Sovereign in August 2016, saying this message echoed beyond the Kingdom’s borders when he called for forming a united front against terrorism and obscurantism.

The King’s message came in a speech delivered on the occasion of the Revolution of the King and the People on August 20. King Mohammed VI had then stressed the need for Muslims, Christians and Jews to close ranks in order to tackle all forms of extremism, hatred and reclusiveness.

The French President also congratulated Morocco for returning to its African Institutional family as part of the Kingdom’s endeavor to promote security and development in the continent.
