Morocco’s tourism boom attracts Spanish conglomerate Hotusa

Following suit to other major Spanish hotel groups, conglomerate Hotusa revealed plans to have a footprint in Morocco through its hotel subsidiary, Eurostars Hotel Company. The group disclosed, in a recent announcement, that it would inaugurate three hotels in the North African Kingdom, with openings slated for 2024 and 2025.

The inaugural property, Eurostars Casa Anfa, nestled in the burgeoning Casablanca district, is set to welcome guests in the upcoming autumn season, as confirmed by the company in a press release.

Additionally, Eurostars Hotel Company aims to unveil Eurostars Californie in Casablanca by late 2024, followed by Exe Zerktouni’s by mid-2025, collectively offering 251 rooms, according to the same announcement.

Hotusa underscored the strategic placement of these newly constructed establishments, strategically situated within key locations of the city.

Highlighting the significance of this expansion, Hotusa emphasized that Morocco marks the twentieth country in which Eurostars Hotel Company has established a presence, bolstering its international footprint across premier tourist destinations.

The group’s president, Amancio López, underscored the strategic importance of North Africa in the company’s global growth strategy, alongside Western Europe, the United States, and Latin America.

The forthcoming openings in Casablanca signify the initial phase of Hotusa’s expansion into North Africa, underscoring the region’s prominence in the chain’s international growth trajectory.

Several other major Spanish hotel groups, including Barceló, Riu, Iberostar and Meliá, have strengthened their presence in Morocco to take advantage of the country’s tourism boom which has turned the Covid 19 page, breaking a new record with the arrival of 14.5 million tourists in 2023, up 34% from 2022.

These major Iberian hotels groups have opted for Morocco with a view to expanding their activities and taking advantage of the tourism boom in the Kingdom. Barceló, Riu, Iberostar and Meliá already have 18 hotel facilities in Morocco, and intend to continue their expansion in this market.

Morocco stands out as a stable destination, both politically and socially compared with other countries in the region, and the rising tourist arrivals make the country a highly attractive investment market, with increasing growth potential for hotel companies.
