Aeronautics: Sweden’s Trelleborg joins Morocco’s thriving aerospace eco-system

Sweden’s Trelleborg group has pledged to invest €11 million in its plant to be set up in Morocco’s aerospace industrial zone, located in Casablanca suburbs, which are housing facilities of major industry players such as Boeing, Airbus, Sabca, Safran, Eaton, Matis, Nexans, Thales, Pilatus Hexcel…

The Swedish group joins the expanding ecosystem with its engineered solutions which will help aerospace manufacturers seal, damp and protect aircraft and terminal equipment to improve durability, safety and performance.

Under the agreement signed Monday with local Moroccan authorities, Trelleborg said the production site will be built over 7,800 m² area and help create over 200 direct jobs in its first phase before expanding its skilled workforce.

Moroccan Minister of Industry & Trade Riyad Mezzour said the Swedish investment will contribute to enhancing further the competitiveness of the national aerospace industrial ecosystem.

Head of Midparc, Hamid Benbrahim Andaloussi, said Trelleborg offers aerospace manufacturers advanced polymer technologies designed to protect aircraft equipment, engine and electronic system, ensuring aviation safety.

Pdt of Aerospace Trelleborg business unit Gordon Rober said the new plant will strengthen Trelleborg’s position as a major supplier to leading aircraft manufacturers operating in Morocco and contribute to the development of the country’s aeronautical sector which employs 17,000 persons, 40% of whom are women.

The Moroccan government has invested heavily in the development of advanced industrial platforms, specialized training centers, and advanced infrastructure to attract both domestic and foreign investors.
