Anger growing in Tindouf camps after circulation of intimate photos of opponent’s wife

Anger is growing among the populations of the Polisario-run Tindouf camps following the circulation by the separatist front’s media of intimate photos of the wife of opponent Fadel Breika, who has been detained since June.

In a bid to humiliate the Sahraoui activisit and blogger, Fadel Breika, the Polisario “security services” violated his privacy by leaking indecent photos of his wife, Oulaya Saâdi, in her bedroom.

The photos were taken from Breika’s mobile phone, which was confiscated by the security services during his arrest in June, and leaked to Pro-Polisario news outlet Sawt al Watan which displayed them.

The camps populations took to the street immediately after the pictures were posted by the outlet to denounce this despicable and unacceptable act in a Sahraoui society very attached to family honor and respect for women.

On Saturday, several cousins and relatives of Oulaya Saâdi attacked the premises of “RASD-TV” and assaulted its director, Mohamed Salem Laâbid, whom they accused of being behind the leaking of the pictures. They also ransacked his car.

Demonstrations were continuing Monday in the Rabbouni camp, where the front is headquartered, and protesters discussed the actions to be taken in response to this new serious drift of the Polisario leaders and the media in their pay, reported le360 news outlet, quoting sources from the camps.

According to these sources, the protesters staged a sit-in in front of the Polisario’s secretariat, chanting slogans reminding that “honor is a red line” and raising posters saying that “A martyr is the one who dies while defending his honor.”

Breika, along with two other activists, Moulay Aba Bouzid, and Mahmoud Zidane, were arrested in June for participating in peaceful protests against Polisario’s violations in the Tindouf camps and are in prison since then.

No formal charges were brought against them and no legal process was initiated.

The families of the activists and human rights watchdogs continue to protest these unlawful arrests and detentions.
