Sahara: Manama & Abu Dhabi Back Morocco’s Efforts Seeking Enduring Political Solution

The governments of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates have renewed their continued firm backing to Morocco’s territorial integrity, hailing the sustained efforts deployed by the North African Kingdom for a lasting political settlement of the Sahara regional conflict.

Addressing the 74th session of the UN General Assembly, convening in New York, Bahraini Foreign minister Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa said his country reaffirms its solidarity with the continuous efforts made by Morocco to find “a political solution” to the Sahara issue in accordance with Security Council resolutions and under the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of the Kingdom.

For his part, the UAE foreign minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan praised, at the UN General Assembly, Rabat ‘s efforts engaged for reaching a political solution to the Moroccan Sahara issue within the framework of the UN-led process.

“My country believes that the political process is the best way to settle the issues of the region, and we appreciate, in this regard, the efforts of the United Nations, the international community and friendly countries,” stressed the UAE minister.

“We also welcome the role of the UN Secretary-General and his support to the political process on the Moroccan Sahara issue”, affirmed Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
