Morocco, Key Partner in Managing Migration- Spanish PM

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez expressed satisfaction at his country’s cooperation with Morocco, which he described as a “key partner” in addressing migration challenges.

“Morocco is a safe country with whom we are cooperating at different levels including most obviously migration,” Sanchez said in a statement to radio Cadena Ser.

The Spanish PM said that Spain as it faces the ageing of its population should find solutions through a “legal and organized” migration.

Sanchez statements come at a context Spain is becoming the EU’s main gateway for illegal migrants.

He also defended his country’s decision to receive the ship with 630 migrants on board last June, saying that such a gesture sends a message to the EU that migration should be treated as a shared concern.

He said Spain is working with key EU member states to ensure the fair distribution of migrants within the EU.
