Morocco’s Unemployment Rate Drops to 9.1 by June 2018

Morocco’s unemployment rate eased to 9.1% by June 2018, compared to 9.3 the same period last year, Morocco’s High Planning Commission (HCP) said.

Between June 2017 and June 2018, the Moroccan economy created 117,000 jobs, 74,000 of them in cities and 42,000 in rural areas, while a year earlier it only created 74.000 jobs, HCP added.

The breakdown of jobs per main sectors was 53,000 jobs in services, 24,000 in agriculture, 19,000 in construction and 21,000 in industry.

Morocco’s active population stood at 12,178,000 compared to 12,081,000 last year.
