Importing Sahara Goods, Legal, in Line with International Law- Danish FM

Danish Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen made it clear that importing products hailing from the Moroccan southern provinces, the Sahara, is legal and in line with international law since the local population benefits from the resources of the region.

“Imports of goods emanating from the Sahara is legal and does not call into question international law as the local population benefits directly from the resources of its region,” said Samuelsen in a statement issued by his department.

The statement notes that the Minister made the remarks on Sahara goods at the European Parliament and at a working session in the Danish Parliament on July 17.

For every single Dirham of revenue from the Sahara, the Moroccan state invests 7 Dirhams, which enabled to improve the human development indicators in the region above the national average.
